Borrego Springs has two things: an unstable grid and hotter than hot conditions. Both of these factors make it a great location for solar PV and energy storage or back up power. This homeowner already had an old 8kW system in place with some older model SMA inverters. We added 40 of the newest most efficient LG 360 Watt panels (14.4kW) and divided it into two separate systems. Half was dedicated to a SolarEdge system to supplement his existing solar production. The other half was dedicated to a Schneider bi-directional inverter and two 3.2kWh SimpliPhi batteries to store energy and provide limited back up power.
